Business Mistakes We All Make and How to Stop

Isn’t it funny how we get off track just a little and it’s so hard to get back on track? The same goes with a lot of things doesn’t it? Like our health, eating right and exercising. We can be so motivated and working hard toward our goals and then life happens. And we have the hardest time getting back on track. It also happens in our businesses and other things we do.

The only way to keep that from happening is through commitment and consistency. But how do you push through a slump in your business? You know what I mean? A slump, where you just don’t want to do the work, you maybe have lost motivation, you are not being as consistent as you should be, you may be procrastinating, and you are letting distractions pull you in every direction. A slump.

I wanted to give you 3 easy things to really keep you on track or get you back on track in your business. These are things that have helped me when I have gotten off track, like these last few weeks.

  1. Daily to-do list. You need to write down your business priorities in order of importance. Putting it on paper is important. Write out your daily, weekly and monthly goals along with what you need to do each day to hit them. Whether that is to prospect 10 people a day on Facebook, or call 10 people a day, or send out daily email to your list, whatever income producing activities you need to do for your business, write them down in order of importance. This does not include scrolling Facebook or organizing your desk. Income producing activities.
  2. Set business hours. You have a home business. It should be treated the same way a traditional business is. Every professional business has business hours right? So set hours for your business and then whatever you wrote down on your priority list from number 1, do those things during those times.
  3. Personal Development. This has changed my thinking in so many ways. We are surrounded by so much negativity in life. We have to put things in our minds that change how we think and how we live. If we want to be successful and live a positive, happy life, we need to put positive in our minds. We have all heard garbage in, garbage out. What we put into our minds comes back out into our lives. So make sure you are filling your minds with positive things every day. Read or listen to some type of personal development daily.

There are many ways to manage your time effectively and to get your motivation back if you’ve lost it. But these are my go-to’s that help me. So, write down your to-do list, set your hours and listen or read personal development daily.

This will help your home business grow and you will see greater success using these steps.

Who You Become On The Way To Success

Is it really true that who you become on the way to success is more important than the money you make? Actually, yes, very true. I used to think this was crazy. I just wanted to make money in business and have that time and money freedom. I thought it was silly to think me changing would change my successes.

Who you become on the way to success really is more important than the money you make. Now, you may disagree. And that’s OK because so did I.

But something I’ve come to realize and believe is that real success in life requires a mindset shift. If we truly want things to change, we have to change. And change is a choice. We can choose to complain, blame, gossip, judge and control. We can also choose to love and accept instead.

Industry trainer, and one of my business mentors over the last 9 years,  Dani Johnson says Income Follows Your Personal Growth. And for years I had heard her say that, but I was not sure if I believed it. I didn’t really work on me as much as I should have. Honestly I didn’t really want to work on me. I continued to judge, blame, gossip, try to control, and much more. And I was darn comfortable there in that place. Now, I am not saying I never do those things now, I am just saying I am a work in progress and as I change, so do my successes in life and business.

I am learning to be a better version of me. I am learning that a comfort zone is a dead zone. I am learning to love and accept others as they are and I am working on me every day. It really is life changing.  I have new goals, new dreams and new vision.

I have more hope, peace, love and joy. And it’s because I decided to take personal responsibility for where my life has been in the past and where I want it to go. Those are all choices we make.

It took me a long time to realize this. And to really start working on me. Success isn’t what you do or what you get, it’s who you become.

The late great Jim Rohn said this. “If you want to have more, you have to become more. Success is not something you pursue. What you pursue will elude you. Success is something you attract by the person you become. For things to improve, you have to improve. For things to get better, you have to get better. For things to change, you have to change. When you change, everything changes for you.”

So, my advice is to work on you. Working on me has been more rewarding than the business success. I am more confident, more compassionate, more sincere, and growing into the best version of me. I am not where I want to be yet, but I am so much closer than I was a year ago, even yesterday. I’m becoming more than what I was. So can you!

Work harder on yourself than you do your business and you will be unusually successful in all things.

To your success,

My Miracle Morning – A Must For The Business Owner

My Miracle Morning. How You Start Your Morning Determines Your Day

Something I have started this month, which I THOUGHT I would have a love hate relationship with because of the time I now get up, is my Miracle Morning.

It’s basically getting my mind and body focused on what’s important and getting my head straight before I really start my day. I get up at 5:00 am, and from 5:00 am-6:00 am, I do my miracle morning. And I love it. Absolutely love it!

I have a few friends who also do Miracle Morning and are getting amazing results. “Miracle Morning” is a book by Hal Elrod. It’s such a good book for those in any business. I won’t go into too many details on the book other than saying you should get it. It’s an awesome book.

Basically a Miracle Morning is where you get up in the morning and you set your intentions for the day. In this book, Hal talks about the lifesavers, and SAVERS is an acronym for how to do your own miracle morning.. These are basically the steps you take for the absolute best start to your day.

The Savers stand for S – Silence A, Affirmations, V- Visualization, E – Exercise, R- Read, S- Scribe.

In hopes to inspire you to start yours, I want to share what I personally do during my Miracle Morning

S – Silence, Which also can be prayer or meditation. I apply essential oils first thing in the morning. I spend the first 20 minutes of my day in prayer. It makes for a much better day altogether. There’s no better way to start your day than talking to your Creator.

A- Affirmations – I affirm what I want and speak life into my business and family. Life and death is in the power of the tongue. I encourage you to take a minute and speak into your goals and dreams. Speak life into your business. This is what I spend a couple minutes doing every morning.

V- Visualization  – I spend a minute or two visualizing what I want to achieve this year and what I need to do to make it happen. It’s not only about seeing the end result, but what needs to happen to get me there. You reap what you sow. Visualization is powerful for your mindset, but it only works if you take action toward your goals.

E – Exercise – Sometimes it’s yoga or a 15 minute walk around our home if it’s nice out. But basically, some form of exercise to get your body going and wake your body up.

R – Read – Personal Development – Just a few pages each morning to put some positivity into my brain. Sometimes I listen to a personal development podcast instead for 15 minutes.

S- Scribe or Journal – Every morning at the end of my Miracle Morning I am writing down 3 things I am grateful for that day. Nothing works better than gratitude to change your attitude. It puts a positive spin on my day when I am grateful for what I have and where I am while working toward what I want.

So that’s my personal Miracle Morning, not perfect, but it has made a huge difference in how I feel and how productive my day goes.

I hope this was helpful. I encourage you to try it. It will change how you feel about mornings.  Will you start your Miracle Morning tomorrow?

To your success,
